Estrogen dominance (or too much estrogen compared to progesterone) occurs in many women and contributes to bloating, PMS, painful breasts, heavy bleeding, irregular cycles, anxiety, fatigue, hair loss, fibroids, cysts, and endometriosis. We often do not relate the imbalances in our bodies to our symptoms (listed above). This is mostly due to the fact that we have not been given the information to understand what our bodies are telling us.
In my practice, I too often have clients come to see me about hormonal issues like these, all to find out they have not been helped with their hormonal imbalance.
Many times they have been put on the birth control pill "to make things better." Sadly, this is far from the truth, and often digs them into a deeper imbalance. Instead, do your best to practice the following:
Decrease your intake of conventionally raised meats
Reduce your consumption of alcohol
Maintain a healthy weight
Improve your gut health
Exercise moderately
Minimize exposure to plastics
Eat a nutrient rich diet
These are all natural lifestyle changes that can help minimize estrogen dominance.
