My Story & Bio

Marnie is a Functional Nutrition Therapy Practitioner and Restorative Wellness Practitioner. She graduated from St. Lawrence University with an undergraduate degree in Biology and later received her masters degree in Middle School Science from Lesley University. After teaching middle school science for several years, she decided to become a stay-at-home mom, devoting her time to her four children and to founding an endurance training business, HillTop Training, that focused on training triathletes and runners. While she has always been drawn to nutrition and sports, her dedication to health was inspired by a personal journey.

In 2006, Marnie and her husband, Ken, began to observe some troubling health concerns within their family. Ken was experiencing chronic fatigue, bouts of depression, foggy brain, and severe digestive issues. At the time, Marnie was pregnant with their twins and Ken was often too exhausted to help. He sought advice from doctors and quickly became frustrated with conventional medicine, as no one could seem to help him. After their twins were born in 2007, Marnie did what she had done for her first two children; she nursed them, ate a healthy diet, and nurtured them fully, but things were still different. They were born via c-section, given antibiotics within twenty-four hours of birth, and they experienced eczema, cradle cap, and distressed digestion.

Again, doctors could not offer a sound answer nor a solution for the concerns. Thus Marnie and Ken embarked on their own expedition of seeking well-being for their family. They read, researched, and looked to professionals who support alternative therapies. After attending Robb Wolf’s Paleo Talk in Boston in 2010, they became empowered to change their whole family’s approach to nutrition. They effectively removed all hydrogenated oils, processed foods, and sugars from their diet. Began sourcing their meat from local farmers and making sure it was grass fed and/or pasture raised. They also focused on consuming organic, locally-grown foods.

Once they made changes to their family’s diet, they witnessed extraordinary changes and success. Marnie is convinced that negative health issues can be directly related to what we are and are not eating. She credits the dawning of her passion in nutritional healing to her husband and embraces his fierce determination to uncover many essential truths about the health of the human body.

Armed with a life-changing discovery, Marnie became inspired to deepen and share the knowledge that she and Ken had gained. So she returned to school and earned certificates to be a Functional Nutrition Therapy Practitioner (2013), and a Restorative Wellness Practitioner (2014) These two courses have laid the foundation of Marnie's work. In 2016, Marnie studied under Chris Kresser, in his year long ADAPT training program (Advanced Diagnostics and Personalized Treatment) at the Kresser Institute. During this year she further advanced her learning in Functional Nutrition and the tools used to assess her clients. Always keeping in mind the ultimate goal of resolving the cause(s) and not just focusing on the symptom(s).

Today she continues her journey in learning while striving to empower others to embrace this concept of health while working with her clients to develop a customized nutrition and healthstyle plan that works for them!
